The farm Il Cocco, owes its name to the commander "Ser Cocco Salimbeni" who lived in the Rocca of Castiglione d'Orcia in 1400. He and his militias controlled the Via Francigena of which the Podere Il Cocco was the military outpost on the southern slope of the Orcia Valley. Podere "Il Cocco" rose to prominence due to its strategic location: being visible from the Rocca di Castiglione and at the same time having a view of the Mediterranean Sea.
In 1955 grandfather Giovanni Bindi, to whom it was donated in turn by his grandfather, restored the agricultural activity to a family run farm which until then had been entrusted to sharecroppers. From this year on the estate as dedicated to the reforestation of the fields and the cultivation of the vineyard, opening up to new opportunities. VISIT THE COMPANY
